Ladybug II: A solid little key-chain knife

I retired my old Mini-Buck from the keyring for the LBK II. I like the little serrated sheepsfoot better than the original LBK. The blade has almost full thickness to the tip, like the Rescue models. Another little Spydie knife that cuts way out of proportion to its size, and the craftsmanship and attention to detail is the same as the large models.

Jim - interesting observation, and quite true. I carry one on my own keys. I regulary "thump" a free hanging 1/2" hemp rope with one of these. ("Don't try this at home", some practice & skill required or it can be dangerous) I think I'd like to try a 3/4" piece.

No sharp point to make people nervous. On a key ring, additional purchase is provided by the keys. Cuts cardboard boxes very well.

It was suggested by one of the crew at Spyderco. Came out last year. Hasn't been promoted.

And it hasn't been knocked off yet!

I actually feel that this fully-serrated sheepsfoot is more suited to this size of knife than the original LBK...though the original is excellent...because the sheepsfoot's straight-line edge and angle really seem to "grab" the material. I used mine to cut up some cardboard boxes, and while the original does it very well, the LBKII did it like through butter.

The AUS-6 seems to work just fine for this small size folder, and I've discovered for myself that a 2" or under folder with serrations is better if fully serrated.

Anyway, whoever suggested this version hit it on the money!

I have both versions of the ladybug and love both, but I would have to put the original a little ahead of the Ladybug II. I carry mine 24-7 on a cord around my neck, and sue it mostly to pick splinters out of my hand. A very nice little scalpel.

I also have both versions of the Ladybug. The original will always have a special place in my collection, since it was my first Spydie.

Like MNH, I find the original LBK to be outstanding for removing splinters. However, it's the LBK II that's on my keychain; James is on the money with his observation that the fully serrated sheepsfoot blade is well-suited to this size knife. Not only that, I can open the LBK II one-handed, but usually have trouble doing so with the original.

These knives are pretty inexpensive, I recommend putting both on your keychain. They are a great combination for times when a full size knife will draw negative attention.
