Ladybug in ZDP-189 or VG 10?

I'm looking to upgrade my current keychain knife, a minibuck, to something a bit nicer. I've put the mini buck through its paces, using it more like a metal stick than a precision cutting tool, so I want something that can be used and abused, functional, while still not scaring any sensitive california sheeple.

I've narrowed it down to the ladybug, which I've read nothing but good things about, but I was wondering if the added cutting performance of ZDP is worth the green handle and susceptibility to corrosion. Being that it'll be in my pocket 90% of the time, I don't want any perspiration to corrode the blade, which I hear can be an issue for the ZDP. Also, the high carbon content makes me wonder if the edge will chip.

What do you guys think? Should I stick with VG10? or go for the ZDP?

ZDP-189 will hold an edge noticeably longer than VG-10 will, and as long as you wipe the blade down every now and then (not even necessarily with oil) it shouldn't corrode on you. Bead blasted ZDP-189, maybe, but that isn't what the Ladybug has. It's also going to be significantly harder than the VG-10 and is more prone to chips, but it shouldn't chip out unless you're cutting some pretty hardcore materials. Especially considering it's going to be a keychain knife, I don't think that'll be an issue.

As far as the green handle, that's up to you.

I use a ZDP Ladybug at the office to cut up fruit, cheese, and such things. I wipe it off with a napkin after use, and occasionally wash it with dawn in warm water. No staining whatsoever, and after about a year, still sharp as can be! ZDP-189 is the bomb!!!

Now the question is Spyder edge Vs Plain Edge. I'd urge you to give some credence towards the fully serrated blade. My FS H1 Ladybug cuts all out of proportion to its size. Still if you want a slicer the plain edge is for you. All in all I'd say it's a toss up between ZDP-189 or VG-10, I love and use both accepting both the pros and cons of each steel. I do have a sharp preference towards the British Racing Green handles, however and find them more aesthetically pleasing.
