Any macho Ladybug owners out there? When your buddies ask what kind of knife is that do you just say Spyerco/Spydie or do you say 'it is a Spyderco Ladybug'? After the laughing or stunned silence do you still feel satisfied about your purchase? I can't get over the name, maybe it's just my insecurities.

BTW if you do have one do you wish you had the CF scales version instead?

I have several ladybugs in the family, all used as keychains. Sharp as hell and typical Spyderco quality. I am lusting after a CF Ladybug, but am too cheap to pay $40+ for one...

i have a cf ladybug on my keys and one for display. best little knife i have. great looking too, helps overcome the name a bit. and yes i introduce it as a ladybug. (probably helps men when they see it first and say oooohhh, before they hear the name.)

oh and the ats-55 steel is a nice step up from the standard.

i had a few of the regular ones first btw, so i knew what i was getting into....
well worth the price, and there sort of rare, if i recall correctly, sal said they only made 500 of um.

The Ladybug is the biggest cutter for its size of all the keychain knives. However, I put a Minibuck on my keychain instead...it's such a low-maintenance knife.

I used to sneak it into the courthouse hidden behind my I.D. in the wallet, dropped in the coin tray. Came in handy, too...used it to open some boxes of steno paper when I sat in with the court reporter.

Now it's reserved for special extra-carry duty.

Ladybugs...I just love 'em. I've got several And nobody laughs at 'em, mine anyway, least wise when I'm within ear shot.

If I'm not mistaken (which I am quite frequently) I believe all the CF Ladybugs have gone the way of the dinosaur.
BTW, Bigtime camping th is weekend, gonna try to use your "goodies" you left for me. We didn't even come out from under the tarp last time we went...it snowed and hailed for a day and a half....Poor little Colt never saw the light of day that weekend.
Have a happy day...

I have and carry a Ladybug, but I put a bumper sticker on it that says "My other knife is a Military".

Oh the little "Ladybuy" so small but yet so useful. Hangs on my work keys, it sees the most work when it comes to cutting string, packing tape, etc. Never go to work without it.

I always tell them its called a "Ladybug". Matter of fact I show them the "family". The "Endura, Delica, and the Ladybug".

The Ladybug is easily under-estimated. I rarely go anywhere without one on my keys.

I have often (in demonstrating Spyderco products) cut a free hanging 1/2" hemp rope with a ladybug. (1-3/4") blade.

Ceg's comment about the bumper sticker is a killer..."my other knife's a military!". Hehehe. The lady bug is one mean bug, as I had one of mine nearly de-bone my right index finger at work! Since that fun little incident, I use the Baby Wayne Goddard instead. It actually has slide-down protection to it (like the whole Goddard line), where the 'lil bug doesn't have much. When your paws are pretty big like mine, the slide-down protection really helps. Also, the Baby Wayne G has a double-beveled plain edge portion, which is nice when you have to sharpen it. As much as I love the 'lil bug, I have to go with the Baby Wayne Goddard! The truth is I like the Baby Goddard better because I love to sniff the micarta...but don't tell my wife!

Chadman, you are one sick puppy... I had to get my Goddard out of the safe and sniff...

Just ordered my first ladybug. I really wanted one with stag handles, but settled for a black handled one. Maybe I can get a custom handle put on it.

A free-hanging 1/2" rope? I love it! Ever consider driving the point through the door of a matchbox car?

Seriously, I am impressed, though.

BTW, the old Spydie ad with the Terzuola "cutting" through the steel cable is my favorite knife ad ever

Copfish, shame on you man! Don't you know what happens when you sniff micarta too long?

Hey Bob, if you can find a stag ladybug, let me know!

The only thing I would like different on my Ladybug is to have a plain edge version. But since I don't fly much any more I don't really need the plain edge.
Quick question can I send my Ladybug in to get it resharpened?? I sharpen it, but have never got it as sharp as the day it was born.

A stag ladybug?

All the ones I've seen were unaccompanied.

Chinook,

I'm thinking Santa Fe Stoneworks could put the stag handles on or maybe Frank Recupero (?sp?), but it would cost me a lot more than the knife did. Spyderco did have some of these in stag, even showed us a picture here a number of months ago. Ever since I saw that picture, I've wanted one in stag. On my budget, it probably ain't gonna happen.

It's still a nice little knife.
