Note: I've said before that I don't like Spyderco knives because of thumb holes. However, on a small, clipless knife like this, I don't particulary mind. I view it more as enlarged nail nick.
Also, any insults on my virility for wanting a knife like this will not be tolerated. You will be killed in the most undiginified manner- being eviscerated by a Mantis knife.

That said, I like little knives, and I was browsing Knifecenter the other day and I came across this little number: http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=SPLORP3

This knife just sort of appealed to me. I like the handle color. It's VG-10, which I'm sure Spyderco does quite well, and would probably come sharp. It doesn't have a clip, but on a small knife like this, I don't really care.

The only cons I can think of are that it has a thumb hole, so I couldn't flick it open very easily. However, as previously stated, this doesn't really matter on a knife this small.

Also, is there a place that has them for less than Knifecenter. And, more particularily,

Does it come in GREEN?

Not sure about green, but New Graham has them in black, white & stainless.

The Ladybug IS a great little knife! I gave one as a gift too. I have one, and a Dragonfly. It is the perfect keychain knife, if one is so inclined to have one there.

Yeah, I would also LOVE one in green!

You always can try e-bay, but I doubt than you will be able to save a lot

To the best of my knowledge current design comes in black and SS, also sprint runs in white and orange. There is a talk about new Ladybug with H1, no idea about the color.
But previous model was made in green. It didn't have VG10 steel, probably AUS6 or 8.

Good luck

I have an early Ladybug knife and the blade is very loose; I probably wouldn't buy another one.

You can get them in green. I bought one for my wife and it is one of her favorites. I am trying to find one for me next. The also can be found in burgundy....

I have the orange one on my keyring right now. Wouldn't leave home without it! Small and lightweight enough not to notice it in your pocket, but a nice sharp locking blade when you need it. Plus the orange color makes your keys easy to find when you lose them. I carried a black one for years and it never got loose. I was as good as any Seki made Spyderco out there.

I have the white sprint run SE ladybug and it replaced an old red SE version.

Both were awesome blades. Nothing like a truly quality knife the size of a key...

As for the thumb hole, I've owned other brands, and it's the thumb hole that is easiest to flick open for me! All of my models from all sorts of grips: they all flick open very easily.

The ladybug is a truly awesome little knife. Try one.

The new Ladybug 3 is way better than the 1st Ladybugs. The hole is a lot easier to get to and you can open this one REAL FAST! It is the top keychain choice right now! Get one and enjoy it! Kevin:thumbup:

Carried a black Ladybug all day today in my LF pocket with my Blackberry Curve. Tiny Fenix P1D light in a teeny belt holster on my hip. One can get by just fine, most of the time, anyway, with just the bare essentials. I have no need to field dress a mastodon.

There is something liberating about not carrying around 14 lbs of crap like I usually do, you know?

I don't like the idea of carrying a knife on a keychain. Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

How does the Ladybug compare to the Boker Keycom? I'm looking into getting a keychain knife and was planning on getting the Keycom but this Ladybug looks great and a killer name too!

I have carried a keychain knife for years and never had an accident yet. They come in very handy especially when no other knife is around. Dont knock it until you try it because you never know when you may forget your folder that you edc at home and you usually always have your keys. THANKS! Kevin

Although Boker products look excellent, I can't ask for more from the Ladybug 3.

The FRN is SOLID and grippy, not to mention light and cool looking.

And it's a keychain knife with Spyderco VG-10 steel...Dosen't get better than that.

The action is smooth, it's easy to open, the lock is strong, and it's easy to control.

Plus the FRN won't bang up things like cell phones in your pocket as easily as other solutions.

You know what? I think I need to get the orange one now....

Hi Jim,

The Ladybug3 has evolved over a 15 year period. The current model (3) is a synthesis of the earlier Ladybug and the Jester model.

In it's current design, it provides very good ergos, bi-directional texture for grip and control over a hollow ground VG-10 blade steel. Available in a plain edge or a full serration, the Ladybug3 provides a great deal of cutting horsepower per ounce or per inch.

The larger thumb hole of the "3" model makes one hand open a possibility. To my knowledge, no other keychain size production model offers blade steel with 1.0+ % of carbon.

At this time, they only come in black as a regular color. We do have "sprint" runs (short runs) currently available in Orange and White.

Thanks Sal and everyone else. I think, when I get home from vacation, thaat I'll order one.

As to the Boker Keycom- I was actually looking at that knife, and under the "customers also purchased" section there was the Ladybug, along with, dare I say it, a Mantis knife with a knife/bottle opener combo that I liked the looks of. I don't have any of CLBs designs, but I like them. However, the Ladybug doesn't have a pocket clip, which I think only gets in the way on a knife I would carry in my watch pocket or on a keychain.

I'm thinking Ladybug/E01/Minichamp II will be the perfect watch pocket combo.
