Hey Everyone. This is the First Time Posting in the Tomahawk Section. I throw, and am an avid Tomahawk Fan. Just Never had a Question till Now. I was thinking of the RMJ Tactical Hawk. The One with a Vid and it was also on the Discovery channel, It Showed him Disabling a car with it. Looks Very Tough, to edge damage even after Concrete treatment.
BUT, At 350 I can get 3 Lagana Vietnam Tactical Tomahawk!!!, Or One and Also an Emerson Hawk.
My Question, Is the Lagana Hawk That Super tough? Is It Sharp? Can The Spike go through a Tire as easily as the RMJ? I'm Leary of Buying Hawks With Composite handles after I had 2 SOG Hawks handles Break from basiclly nothing abusive, just regular Hawk Work( I Know SOG is not in the league of Lagana or Emerson) But the Material Used for the Handle might be the same and I don'e like it Busting, Unless I can replace it fast(Maybe get the Wooden Handled Lagana)?. And The Emerson LOOKS Sweet, But it seems Like it Might be for Show, or For weapon on People, Not For serious Hard Use(Disabling a Car, Throwing ect) So anyone with either the Lagana, or an Emerson Please Chime in:D. Or Should I just Suck it Up and get an RMJ? Or does anyone recommend another brand all together?

I hae seen the Emerson and it is nice but does not have the edge geometry imho for hard use it is more of a weapon. I think some where on ATC website they do not suggest throwing. As for the Lagana the spike is definately sharp enough to go through a tire . it does not come very sharp but that is easy to fix. I think it is very tough and the only thing I think you will not like is the handle is rather short . Great for carry but you might want a longer handle for throwing. Those RMJ hawks look great and I would like one.

the rmj eagle talon is the toughest hawk i have ever come across. this is a heavy hawk made from 3/8" steel. the edge is an abrupt angle so it would be my last choice for the woods but it wasn't designed for that.

the spike is extremely sharp too with a nice flowing arc to it which is suppose to eliminate getting stuck like the diamond shaped points do.

If you have one, how would you compare the k5 tactical to the rjm?

I like to throw too, and use three VTAC's they are tough and I find the handle very
suitable for throwing. With three you dont have to walk back and forth so often...

i read the article in TK magazine on the RMJ and it showed a guy throwing it into a steel door getting the spike to stick. i just don't think you could do anything to this hawk that would damage it.

i think most people gave up on K5. he never seemed to fill orders.

Just ordered an RMJ Shrike Hammer Forged Hawk. Talked to Rchard real nice guy. Thanks Stolas and Crossada for making me spend more money :D

haha, you are one to talk. i've bought 1 Bagwell and a second on order because of your pics:D

and don't tell anybody but i'm getting a craving for a Harvey Dean and i know you have one of them too!

Love my Lagana VTAC. It's beat up now, but still working fine. The handle is a little short, but it's only about a half step closer to compensate for that. Blade needed a little work to remove the chisel edge for throwing, but not much.
I love the whistle the lanyard hole makes as it flies.
I think they are great buys.

Stolas, I'm also in Detroit and looking to pick up my first hawk, looking at cold steel stuff. Is there anywhere locally that stocks them, I really want to look through a few to pick one out as I've heard QC can be an issue. Thanks.
