Well,

I'm a new member, from Quebec (canada...) and newly interested in self-defense knife. this first one i will buy is for a woman that needed a neck knife, to be concealed near the bra...

I think i made my decision on the blade...LaGriffe, from Emerson, but from the pictures, i can barely belive the LaGriffe really sticks in the sheath they give with it.

anyone have any experience with this ? I guess it should be ok, since the designer surely wouldn't miss such a detail, but i just don't see how the knife really holds in place in the sheath and comes out with the required strenght once you entered your index in the hole...

Well, i hope i'm making some sense ! It had been a while since I last wrote in english *grins*

Thanks for your time,

so how hard do you have to pull on it to get it out of the sheath ?

do you have a picture of your LaGriffe in hand, by any chance ?

Thanks,

project

It is not the tightest kydex I have, or the loosest. I guess it is about average. The two sides of the kydex don't touch when in the finger hole. I don't have any pictures. My digital camera isn't good for taking pictures of small objects, they turn out blurry.

ok, not the tightest, not the loosest...but still secure i guess, right ?

Well thank you very much, that answered my question.

It is secure. Some kydex neck sheaths I have were so tight I had to step on the cord to pull the knife out. Another is very loose, too loose for anything but pocket carry, but that one isn't a neck sheath. I've worn my LaGriffe with no retention or drawing problems. It is one of the better neck knife sheaths I own.

Hey Guys..

Project...

Besides,, if you need a better sheath with that LaGriff,, I'm just down the road about 8 hours..:)

Drop me a note sometime..

Ok eric, i'll remember to check here if i want another one...perhaps something more designed to be near/attached on a bra... oh well, we'll see!

as for the hide away knives...i don't like the design that much, but mainly, i find the whole really wide. the person i'm buying this for has really small hands . i don't know! now you got me mixed up again !

hehe ... oh my, the choices ... hard !

thanks for your comments,

project

Maybe you can find something even more suited to your needs, just take a look in the european community forum, there is a thread dealing only with Fred Perrin's new designs, lots of nice things... ;)

Xavier.

Project, the HideAway Knives are sized for you individual hand. You would have to get the measurment of the hand of the person you are getting the knife for, and then the HAK folk will make on in that size, for a perfect fit!

I would strongly suggest you take the good doctor's advise and spend some time on the hideaway website.
This might be the perfect defense system for a lady as it was designed by one.

Project...

I'll also back up the HAK statements by the good Dr. and everyone else who has suggested them...

They are Very well designed, and well made, and can be customized...

As for the LaGriff... If you need a custom sheath for it to mount on a bra,, that shouldn't be a problem..
you may have to send the bra, and whoever fits into it down for proper fitting :) :)

well, so far, it has just been a design issue for me : i like the laGriffe better.

but since its not really for me ... what are the main advantages of the HAK over the laGriffe ?

i don't know...just from the pictures, it seems like the LaGriffe would feel more securely in hand...but i guess the HAK must be very solid in hand when you make it into a fist... ?

thank you all for your time ...
its really hard to make a choice based on pictures ...

and if going with the HAK turns out to be a good idea...which one would you recommend for last resort self defense (for lady:)
