I'm considering buying a LaGriffe, and wondered what anyone thought of it? I handled one once at a show, but only briefly and so I don't really remember it real well.

However, I kinda remember that the blade seemed EXTREMELY diminuitive. I don't have anything against small blades, personally I own many, but I just wondered what ya guys thought.

The LaGriffe was designed by Fred Perrin for self defense purposes and has found favor with many LE personnel as a back-up blade. It is a versatile cutting tool with tremendous retention capabilities. Fred is qouted as saying that he designed the La Griffe with a small blade so that he wouldn't kill someone when using it for defense. Granted, its not a full sized knife by any stretch of the imagination but it excels at a multitude of daily cutting tasks.
I have found it to be a great little line cutter and plan to use it when diving.

Hey blade man, if the "dimunitive" blade of the La Griffe turns you off, then why not go for a bigger Griffe? Check this link:

Here you will find Fred Perrin custom originals. Not overly pricey, especially for the real deal. I own two Emerson La Griffes (one standard and one Titanium) but recently I bought the Buffalo Horn Bowie La Griffe featured on the above link, and I love it. The blade is beefier than on the Emerson production model, and it's scary scalpel sharp. The filework and balance of this blade is just incredible. This Perrin Custom has earned it's place as my daily neck-knife of choice. The production Emerson La Griffes are great, but the custom Perrin's will spoil you for anything else.

Eric--I don't dislike the LaGriffe's small blade-I just remember the finger hole being kinda huge for the rest of the knife. oh well, guess it lets you grip it. The only real way is to buy one and see...gee darn.
