Laid off today--how am I going to get my tweeners now?!

Got my position downsized today, due to having the least tenure in my office. Sadly, it was a job I very much enjoyed. On the upside, my wife did get a scholarship through the USAF, so come fall, she'll be able to support us on the (hopefully) unlikely circumstance that I haven't found work by then. Am hoping to find a new position soon so's I can save up for my tweener collection. Any other Beckerheads in Colorado who are hiring? :D

On the upside, at least Beckers are about as affordable as they get for knives of this quality. And, I'll have time tomorrow to do some serious playing with the passaround BK9.

Happens to everyone at some point. Ebay something for the tweeners. Still plenty off time.

My wife got laid off a few years back for the same reason, least tenured employee in her department. She ended up getting offered and taking a better position with the same company about a year later in a different department. Keep your chin up. Everything happens for a reason. Something better is on the horizon for you.

Its not the 80s anymore so I am not going to say its going to get better optimist chatter that most will fill your day with. I have been fighting my own issues for a couple of years and always do fine ony own, but if I gad a family I would be screwed. So make sure and use all of the newest tools when hunting for a new job and remember that we have the largest group long term unemployed since the great Depression. So even if you have to do some crappy work in the interim, just having some activity on your resume will help you get a good long term job. The number one reason for employers declining an employee in 2011 was the lack of employment in the last 18 months. Seems counterintuitive but its a reality. Keep up the good fight!

Thanks fellas. We could sure be in a worse position, that's for sure. I'm gonna get my tweeners somehow too :)

Hang in there CF. If it comes down to it, I'll give you all Derek's tweeners.

well, do you job searching early in the day. go for walks. find dumpsters and sides of roads. pick up cans. think of it as urban survival. all can money goes to beckers :)

hell, some of those can machines dispense amazon credit vouchers. geez. it's like "nobody will know" :)

good luck with a next gig

Sorry to hear that. The good news is that with Kabar it is not a limited run. Hopefully you can save pennies and get there soon.

Damn man. Sorry to hear about that. Maybe there will be a tweener fairy who rewards good hard working boys and girls. Time will tell. Keep your head up. Your in Colorado? Shoveling snow seems like it could be a steady job for that area :D

The hell you will! I would say that will be cool and I will take yours, but yours end up all rusty lookin, and that just ain't for me. You can give him Psyop's though, he isn't going to do anything with 'em.

Crimson, you could just call dibs on Clich's when he sells 'em. ;)

Sorry to hear about that, Job hunting is no fun. Lots of tweeners so no rush.

Got to act fast, Clich only keeps things for about 17 minutes on average. :D

I actually recommend calling dibs when Clich buys them!

+1

And screw you guys :D

Sorry to hear that man, it sounds like you've got your priorities straight though. Hope everything works out for you in the end.

I'm sorry to hear you have been laid off. I'm an old, old guy with tons of experience. If you will PM me with details about yourself, e.g., age, education, experience etc, maybe I can give you some help.

Lol, thanks guys. Especially clich and his evidently short span of hanging onto things. I'll look forward to taking your tweeners off your hands when you get bored with them, clich. Of course, I imagine by then I'll be gainfully employed again. Just need another job that will support my knifemaking hobby too... :)

Nice to have a community of folks who understand where a man's priorities have to be.
