Mardi Gras is a big deal in Mobile area - where Mardi Gras started in 1703 for USA (or so they claim). The wife was involved in one of the Crews for a few yr - and boy am I glad she's out now.
 
I grew up 15min from NOLA. Went to college @ LSU. Extremely happy to be living in Texas and away from that mess... King Cake is pretty good though if done right. The things I miss the most are boudin and crayfish etoufee.

I was home port stationed in Biloxi, MS for 4 years in the Navy. I went to a couple of them down on Bourbon St. Can’t say I remember much more than that.
 
The "tom" was a typo. It was supposed to be "ton". I edited it. Otherwise, we agree on the rest of the pronunciation.

Acording to my wife ( bon in New Orleans and lived in France) and several Cajun friends - depending on which French you speak, temps is either ton/tohn ( standard French) or taw/tawn ( Cajun , Creole). I have a good friend from Metairie who says tohm.
