Lakeland Fl. show / a success

I have to say that this show is already a success in my book. I slowly caroused the tables and it took 3 hours to make it through. I could easily have spent another 3 hours looking again, seeing what I might have missed on the first pass. LOTS of fantastic blades, perhaps nothing new to a lot of the ole timers but to me it was great. Had a chance to meet and talk to more than a few very fine makers from the mid Fl. area as well as others. For the price of $4 twas a bargain, heck if I have time may even try to squeeze back over for a bit on Sunday. Lots to see, lots to learn....unless your one who already knows it all. Gamble, Prudente, Mink, Miller, Atkinson, Voight....just a few that come to mind quickly....great folks all, lots of talent, quite inspiring and gentlemen all. Lots of users, collectables and production blades of all stripe. Surely something for anyone who has an appreciation of sharp tools. As I was holding/examining the Elishewitz 'Phantom' the fellow next to me made the commitment to buy it.....guess he thought I was looking at it a bit too hard...but for $850 I was really only looking.

There's nothing better than a good show, huh? That was mighty rude of the dude to buy the knife you were looking at though. I've heard of people hovering just behind another person to quickly snatch up a knife as soon as it's set down on the table, but to buy it while someone else is looking at it... well, that's just rude.

Senator,

Though I know what you mean about rude this instance was truly not the case. Show etiquette is important, courtesy tantamount. I had asked the seller if I could look/handle the fine blade. He was in discussion with the soon to be buyer about other blades on the table, apparently having already looked at the Phantom. I think I kinda unintentionally shilled him into buying it....though that was not my intent, guess I should've asked the purveyor for my comish.

I smiled as I turned to hand the blade to its new owner saying I was pleased to examine such a fine piece of work. It was nothing but a good friendly show. I find most knife persons to be among the most courteous...well like I said...mostly...I'm sure there are rude ones out there but they stayed home today.

I just got back from the show and it was nice. There were a lot of nice knives and a much bigger show than the last one in the center that I went to. I will be going back tomorow. see you there. Jeff

I just got back also. I hope Reece Weiland didn't see me drool on one of his big Hawkbill folders

Much more room at the Civic Center! Lots of makers and vendors with an auction tonight.
If anyone is thinking about going, the show is on tomorow also. I couldn't see how anyone could be disapointed.
