In celebration of the birth of my son, my wife said I could buy a new knife (and several things for her, but that's besides the point). I've been debating either a Lambert or a Lightfoot folder. I've never actually beena ble to see/hold one of these knives, but love the designs. Most of what I've read has been pretty positive, although some folks said the older Lightfoots' liner locks weren't the best. Most people agreed they've improved. Anyone have any thoughts, pictures, etc? Thanks.

I believe one of the larger dealers for Lightfoot and Lambert is True North Knives. Usually has great pics on his site.

I own a couple of Lambert's, and they are top notch!!! I highly recommend a Lambert. I have never owned a Lightfoot, but I am positive that they are rock solid knives.

I am the opposite. Owned a few of Greg's folders and traded them away. Dumb move but I will get a LCC soon. Never had any of Kirby's knives but I have oogled them on the True North website.....

I have several from both makers and am happy with all of them. You can't go wrong here, I would just look for the design which appeals to you the most.

buy a lambert for you, then buy a lightfoot for your son.
then "take care" of it for him until he is old enough to buy it from you:)

I went back to check out some Lamberts too at TNK and came across this photo of some lockup:

The knife is at this url:

I wouldn't normally mention it, but you seemed concerned about the liner locks of the folders, and this seems a little...iffy....

I suspect, perhaps, that maybe the folder is ALMOST but not quite all the way open? I don't think Lambert would make a mistake.

From what I understand (I could be wrong here, & if so, sorry), but I think Kirby Lambert & Greg Lightfoot are friends as well as fellow Canadian knife makers.

I have never owned or handled a Lambert folder, but I've liked what I've seen of them. I did own a Lightfoot Suppressor (Actually carried & used it) & a LCC. In all honesty, I thought the LCC was better made than the Suppressor. My Lightfoot seemed to have developed up/down blade play (It was/is a liner lock).

I believe it was an older model of his, so hopefully, that's not typical anymore. I do like Lightfoot's use of BG-42 & like his blade shapes. However, Lamberts seem to be just as nice.

Personally, & not to knock Lightfoot, IF I were to buy one, I'd probably get a Lambert or definitely have to handle the Lightfoot 1st.

Granted, this is JUST MHO.

I had a Tighe Tac that was not sharpened, otherwise well constructed. got it in a trade
