I just got my first custom fixed blade and could'nt be happier.
Specs: 8" blade, 3/16 stock,chisel ground 1095, with a very cool hamon.
First off, Matt's a great guy to deal with, always kept me updated with emails or phone calls. Also the price he qouted me was originally for a seven inch blade and even though it turned out bigger he did'nt charge extra.

I'll apologize in advance for the pics or lack there of. I spent hours downloading from the camera to the computer ( i'm on dialup and the pics were huuuge ) only to have them disappear for the third time now out of the folder  Luckily I emailed a couple to Matt and he shrunk them down for me. I still don't know how post them , EDIT: Matt put up the pics two posts down:
The first pic is the knife cutting into about a six inch diameter tree, second one the trees a little bigger, third is just a bunch of cut up stuff and the cutting stand I threw together. This knife can CUT! On harder/tougher wood I could go through about three and a half to four inch trees in one swing as long as I hit it at the right angle. I've only stropped it on plain leather, and it still shaves hair easily. All in all I'm very happy with this knife, and should be getting a 10" tanto from Matt pretty soon :D

thanks for the "review", you dont need to run them through a seperate host after they are posted on my site, all you have to do is cut/paste the url-

thanks a lot sam! those are impressive pictures. i love matt's knives as well, expecting a third one (and it even comes with a sheath!).

regards,
hans

I continue to be impressed by Matt's knives. Most knives I get aren't actually very sharp (it is a rare ABS Mastersmith knife that will pushcut copier paper), which isn't that big a deal 'cause sharpening them is half the fun. But Matt's knives are really really sharp. For example I bought this knife (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492561) and it was sharp enough to cut free-hanging plastic wrap. Admittedly this might not be the ideal or even acceptable edge for a lot of uses, but it was still impressive. Go, Matt.

Gabe, feel free to use that knife for whatever comes your way, it cut just fine in the woods on green bamboo, pine, oak etc.

here are a few shots of the above Tanto before testing-

cool knife and good score.....matt do you find that singel bevelled knives perform better at chopping....are most of your users single bevelled.....any info you can share about differences in performance.....ryan

hi ryan, i cant tell the difference, i do however roll the convex in differently on a chisel ground tanto.

thanks for the quick reply matt....so on your chisel ground knives....they are convexed on the front side.....on the back...is it concave like a japanese kitchen knife......so when you sharpen it do you flatten the back and end up with two ridge lines on either side.....ryan
