I am so glad my dear friend and roommate (at shows) :) David Mirabile is working in this style

As many of you know David won best fighter of Blade last year with an organic wicked looking piece that garnered a lot of attention but .............as much as I liked that piece I really love his Japanese themed pieces.

He is doing these works of art in a blend of traditional and modern with a tad of organic thrown in. His blade shapes and general fittings are rather traditional but he is mixing carbon fiber and ivory in a way that is truly his own.

Although laminated steel is certainly no stranger to Japanese style blades I believe David is doing something here that will truly set him apart from the rest

He is really on to a style that is truly his own and that in a sea of Japanese influenced blades is a feat in itself

From David

Just like his other piece, this one is exceptional as well. I've been on a bit of a carbon fiber kick, and love this mix of traditional and style with some modern materials. Will he be doing a run of these? Thanks for the great pictures :)

I Love everything about this knife and package
incredible work

Thanks for the look

That is a true work of art :)

Would love to see more of his work.

Thanks for sharing!

WOW! What a beauty!
You Sir, have excellent taste in knives.
Dare I say, that the Mirabile Tanto looks understated (a compliment in my book), but when one know what goes into it and look at the lines, one is simply blown away.
Quite like the 2012 'Best Fighter' as well - talk about elegant lines and a very brave handle!

PS Kudos for the innovative Tanto stand BTW

You tempt me all with your Tanto. Fortunately that I have a project with a certain Sam...

NICE pick up, Joe !

Guys thanks so much but regretfully it is not mine

I am only displaying it for my friend

I have been begging him to post one here for sale and maybe in the future or if the person that this was made for cant take it this will come to pass

Thanks for all the kind words

I was wondering if it was yours too Joe!

That is a work of art in every detail.

Thanks for showing it,
Peter

Of course I love the knife. Long ago, I had an interest in combining old traditional and ancient materials along with hi-tech. (I had Larry Davidson build me a D/A with mammoth ivory and a C/F inlay. I still have AND use it!)

I'm a fan boi. :)

Just as intriguing to me is his obviously-converted shipping container as a shop. Not many options up there in Alaska!

Thanks Joe!

Thanks Joe!
A knife is not just a knife but it's a knife.
That's why I love them!

You know it Dave to find a more loyal friend you would have to look to your dog:)

He also does all my ironing at the shows :)

very cool combination of material,
Joe, thanks for posting,
Dave, very nice.

One more thing. The Japanese designs are so beautiful that they can be made in any fashion. It's the execution that counts.

Very well put Rolf :)

I love the very traditional to modern interpretations

David's raw organic mix blended with Titanium and carbon fiber transcend so many different genres this blade is sure to please the traditionalists and the high speed crowd

I am begging David to make some pieces available here on Bladeforums

Thank you Joe.
Mr. Nease will make a Ti Aikuchi or Yoroi Toshi, for my next order.
Please tell David that I will beg also.

Not to many people can make a fusion that works imo. David surely is someone who definately can! Great work. Thanks for sharing it.
Cheers Keith
