Sad to see. The oldest cutler in the country files for bankruptcy. After 177 years. I have a few of their products and I like them. I hope they are able to recover from this.

Sad to hear, I wonder if it has anything to do with their lack of advertising as I've never even heard of them!

I tried to work with them on a few designs when I had five figures to play with after some contract work, and I couldn't get them to return phone calls or emails after two weeks. I had (rough) CAD drawings, hand drawn scaled templates from makers, quotes on the specific steel I wanted in the correct plate thickness, and reference pics for the historical pieces with the exact details I wanted to incorporate. While I wish the line employees well, I have no sympathy for their sales and management teams.

They are located in Franklin County in Massachusetts. John Russell's Green River Knife Works used to be located in Franklin county as well. They both competed with all the best cutlers from England and Germany and came out on top for a while. It's sad to see such a rich cutlery location losing more makers.

I tried to get set up with them as a retailer and they consistently failed to respond to either phone calls or emails. I was desperately TRYING to throw money at them and they just didn't want it, it seems. A shame, but not a surprise. If Silas Lamson were alive today he'd be giving them what for.
