Lamy pens? Safari series and similar brands for everyday use?

I was looking at pens recently and noticed the LAMY Safari series. Has anyone used these pens enough to comment on their quality and performance relative to similarly price pens?

I'm specifically thinking of replacing my Rotring Core rollerball with one of these. I like the Core but, it is just too bulky to carry around everyday and the balance with the cap attached is off (too tail heavy).

I'm looking for an everyday pen of good quality and moderate price. I am specifically limiting myself to Rollerball's in the belief it will make check washing very difficult if not impossible (mail theft thanks to the drug trade is very high in our city). I would like to keep the street price to my door in the under $50 range but, would go higher for the right (or is that write ;) ) pen.

Thanks!

I have one of the LAMY Safari series fountian pens that's about three years old. It writes well and never missed a beat. It's a fairly light pen, confortable for EDC. I'd replace it if it was ever lost.

I have had several of these through the years. Used a charcoal grey with x-fine nib to finish my last 2 years of college. Great little pens, but a bit bulky to carry sometimes in dress clothes. Also check out the aluminum / All Star line of the Safari series. Same penes, but made out of aluminum instead of plastic and not much more expensive.

Check Fountain Pen Hospital and Lizell websites; they othen have CHEAP sale prices on these little pens.
