Can you say machine?!

Lance extends lead in Pyrnees

I think he's gonna do it again.
What other streaks in sports compare?
-Woodens UCLA teams(NCAA basketball)...10 straight I believe.
-Wilkinsons OU teams(NCAA football)...49(?).
-Celtics of the 60's
-Russian Olympic hockey

I know there are many others of which escape me right now, but I'm not sure any can come close. One man has owned this race for the better part of a decade. Rivals have come and gone, the up and coming, the new and improved, the dopers...all have been vanquished by Armstrong. Again he is looking unbeatable and appears he will once more, for the final time, ride into Paris the victor.
I'm rooting for him.

Spoiler! :D I work midnights, and havn't watched the stage yet.

Interviewed at the end of yesterday's stage, Lance looked confident. I hope his team hangs together over these two tough mountain stages, and he can keep or extend his lead.
If so, things are looking good indeed, as he always does well in the time trial.

mwerner,
so sorry...never thought of the 'spoiler' moniker applying to the TDF. Enjoy watching the butt-kicking!

The guy's incredible. I wish we had someone who could seriously compete with him. All in all, Ullrich is getting slower and slower every year, despite the media attention he still enjoys.
Armstrong definitely deserves to win again.

Quiet,
It didn't help matters much when Ullrich slammed into the back of his support car while training just days before the race and also took a header a few stages ago. He has to be hurting.
Reminds me of Tyler Hamilton, 2 years ago, finishing almost the entire second half of the race, in contention, with a broken collarbone.

Sure. But I don't think he could seriously challenge Armstrong even if he wasn't injured. The way Ullrich gets way out of shape every single winter, he's just not professional enough to stand a chance.

I'll have to defer to you when it comes to matters concerning Ullrich. In fact, I rarely follow this sort of racing except when it involves the TdF. I'm sure my interest will wane after this years tour as Armstrong is retiring, but I just can't help but to tune in to such a display of dedication, perserverance and dominance...dude is bad!
I know folks probably get tired of hearing all about Armstrong all the time, but if he doesn't inspire one to perservere, they haven't got a heart.
Can you imagine Armstrong being out of shape?...NOT! :D
