Happy Easter!
I was thinking a lot about, what would be the appropriate piece of steel to celebrate Easter with, because to me, any holiday would be "pointless" without steel
So taking into consideration that Easter is about the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus, rather than cute fluffy bunnies and painted boiled eggs, there is really little room to entwine this legend with an edged thing. And suddenly I was stuck with the obvious recognition: the lance of Longinus!
But of course! How could I miss this one out??
Christian mythology states, that Jesus was pierced on the side as he hung on the cross:
"One of the soldiers pierced his side with a lance, and immediately there came out blood and water."
— John 19:34
Thus creating the last of the Five Holy Wounds of Christ.
So it was settled. A lance it will be... behold!
The total length is 36.5 cm long, forged of one single piece of 5160.
The edge is 17 cm long and the socket can accommodate a 2.3 cm wide shaft.
Hope you guys like it
