Here are my mainstays for both land and sea.... the Spyderco Tasman Salt 2 and the new, just released, Spyderco SuperMegaHawk .;):D

Spyderco has surprised many of us with the success of certain designs that have many scratching their heads. But for Spyderco to take the Hawkbill design to higher levels has always intrigued me. They truly had the guts to try something that most manufacturers would not have given the time of day. With every model from the LadyBug Hawkbill all the way to the highly touted SPYDERHAWK there is one Hawkbill model that could please any of us. I've used Spyderco's serrated Hawkbills as companion blades for a few years now and plan on using them in the future.
That Whale RESCUE would probably even have more practical uses if one wanted to explore the possibilities. The TASMAN/MERLIN version of Spyderco Hawkbill models has surprised me as well over the years. Personally I prefer the Harpy in that size range. IF more people in the landscaping trades and fishing industries were aware of Spyderco's great Hawkbills I do believe it would be difficult for Spyderco to keep them on the shelves IMO.
