I'm not a big fan of zombie movies, but I did enjoy Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead (the remake), and 28 Days Later (for all intents and purposes a zombie movie).

Wasn't too interested in the new Land of the Dead, but saw a trailer for it recently on tv and thought it was worth checking out. Anybody see anything about it? I read an interview with George Romero, that's about it. Thanks.

Man I've been anticipating this since I heard about it.
Seen a lot of TV trailers lately , comes out tommorrow in Fresno , woot!
Have to check it out when I get back from pig hunting.

Anybody see it yet? If it's as good as The Dawn Of The Dead remake, I'll go see it. If not, I'll wait for DVD.

It was significantly different from the "Dawn of the Dead" remake, but in its own way very good. DotD had a lot more character development, but "Land of the Dead" was more "concept" driven. The scares were a little more "old school," but you want that from George Romero.

Another big difference was in the pacing. DotD was more of a relentless frenzy of fear, whereas LotD tends to vary the pace and have more of the good old fashioned "surprise!" kind of frights.

I own DotD on DVD and I will definitely get LotD when it comes out!

I am a big fan of all the original "dead" movies,(Night, dawn, Day) and while I enjoyed this movie, it was definetly different than the others. It was faster paced than a typical Romero flick,(hollywood) and thus didn't have as much character develoment as the others. The social comentary seemed a bit rushed, but, nonetheless, it was definetly worth seeing. I will be seeing it again tommorrow, to let it fully sink in.

Well I went and saw LOTD today with my Dad. and.... egh.
It was alright. Whats funnyis I can think of things I didnt like about moreso than things I liked about it hehe.
First , it didnt have that eerie feeling to it , maybe a few parts but.. I mean the remake of DOTD took place is daylight mostly and it managed to be more eerie , the apocalypse seemed more "real" in the other Dead films , to me.
It was almost as if they tried to put too much dark humor in it , as in overboard. Special effects were great , zombies looked good. Acting was so-so.
I guess I will give it three stars out of five...

I saw it last week too. Sort of a letdown, after The Dawn of the Dead remake. The story and acting were OK, the zombies were OK, and occationally the horror sensations went right. I did like the post-apocolypse environment-lifestyle story line.

But it just didn't 'grab' me like The Dawn of the Dead. I mean, the first ten minutes of Dawn, and I was completely and forever sucked into the movie. Land of the Dead was missing any sort of shock value, or maybe I've become desensitized. But I tell you what, the baby-zombie portion of Dawn of the Dead was absolutely disgusting and I couldn't believe that segment was included in a hollywood movie.

Dawn of the Dead, 5!! stars out of 4
Land of the Dead, 3 out of 4

I love both the original DotD and the remake. The remake really took a lot of people by surprise, including me. It is fast paced, has a slew of interesting characters, a few plot developments, great action/horror/violence, is funny, and is totally pro-gun. And it has a good soundtrack. It is really in the top three greatest zombie movies ever.

I'm definitely going to see Land of the Dead, but I am in no big rush, just because of some of the negative reviews I've heard (from zombie fans, that is).

The remake of Night of the Living Dead is a cool flick, also. Perhaps the most underrated zombie movie out there.

If you're going to watch "Land of the Dead", definitely catch it while it's still at the theatre. I don't think it'll be as good on a television set.

Best Wishes,
Bob

you guys are lucky. i'm a big zombie movie fan from fulci to romero but here in the UK, Land of the Dead ain't coming out till 9th september!!!!!

No wonder people download movies on the net. Why can't they just release it all at the same time. It's just annoying hearing people say that they've watched it. Asia Argento looks hot in the movie though.
