After driving to the local mom and pop video store to rent it, and the local Blockbuster and Hollywood Video, I decided to just go ahead and buy Land of the Dead on dvd, widescreen natch! I'm not a fan of zombie movies, but this movie just blew me away! I thought it was going to be corny because I had read that zombies had "evolved" in this movie. I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't just great action and no story like the Dawn of the Dead remake, it was funny, action packed, and had some good looking women to boot. Dennis Hopper, John Leguizamo and Simon Baker all did a good job. The guy who played the lead zombie also did a good job, actually making the viewer feel bad for the zombies, especially his rage and sorrow when other zombies are being killed, or re killed I guess, around him. The underlying story of greed, and the eventual portrayal of the zombies being more human than the humans, except for the eating people part, just capped off a great movie.

Oh yeah, Dead Reckoning was a really neat looking vehicle!

Unfortunately, I have an overextensive imagination, so needless to say, I didn't get much sleep last night after watching it. So I watched Batman Begins again... for the umpteenth time, and I'm still not worn out by it!

Oh yeah, the Batmobile was a really neat looking vehicle!

A great film, I loved the idea of the zombie towns folk going about their everyday business; those guys in the band-stand. :D . The horror of simple things...

Honest opinion from a guy who loves Zombie films ?

I thought it ..... well it didnt .. outright suck.. but , it was like they tried a little too hard to make it funny. The storyline was interesting enough but , it didnt have any 'chill factor' whatsoever , not the slightest bit of creepy. In other words wheres the beef ? It needed to be just a little bit scary but it wasnt.
I got the DVD too only because my Zombie collection wouldnt be complete without it , otherwise....

edit*

Ok I know why I didnt like it very much.. I really expected more from Romero , I respect the guy for making some of the most classic horror films made but he dropped the ball on this one big time. IMHO.\
:)

I must admit I didnt think it was very good. Zero scare factor, and the attempts at humor fell short too, IMO.

For me, it definitely fell short of the Dawn of the Dead remake. But it was still pretty good and I'm glad I caught it at the theatre.

This movie was ok, I dont really want to see it again however. It was just a little too corny for me. Though the evolving/thinking zombie thing kinda freaked me out. I mean the things are dead they shouldnt be walking around eating people let alone THINKING.

Haven't seen the Zombie movie but I was surprised how well done, Batman begins was, great movie.

I liked Land of the Dead but I loved the new Dawn of the Dead. One part especially. The zombies are chasing them up the stairs and the people got to the door to find it locked.they turned to see the zombies stop at the bottom. They zoom in on one zombie with a mohawk and charred skin as they begin to assend.that was a cool scene.

thay ARE comming..............prepair yourselves.. .. .. . . .cary condaments in your pockets.
