So I have an 8" Lansky ceramic Crock Stick that I LOVE. Problem is, I'd like a bigger one for bigger knives (8" plus). I looked through their product catalog and all I saw in my preferred length was a 13" diamond rod. Does the diamond act the same as the ceramic??? I always thought it was a bit more abrasive/aggressive at removing material, so I'm a little hesitant. The ceramic rod is very fine, but I don't know how the diamond one compares. Advice please? :)

Daimond and Ceramic are almost on opposite sides of the spectrum. Diamond is for aggressive reprofiling and taking super dull knives and getting them started back to greatness. Ceramic is for putting a finer edge on an already sharp knife.

Diamond sticks are often in the 400 (Smith's cheap rod at Walmart) to 600 (Kershaw Ultra-Tek) grit range, though DMT does make a super fine one that I think is closer to 1200 grit. The ceramics are more like 1200 for the one that comes with the Apex and 2200 for the DMT one, I don't know what the Lansky ceramic is, but its fine too, probably in the 1200+ range, so while the roughest ceramic and the finest diamond are close, I think the diamond rod still will cut faster given similar grits. Just my two cents worth from what I have tried to learn about all this.
