Hey folks;
I bought some fixed blades and sharpening long blades at lansky guided system is pretty hard.So i thought lansky crocsticks(medium and fine stoned version) can be a good candidate for sharpening them.
Do you guys recommend it? I have eskabar,cold steel leatherneck sf ,gi tanto and ontario rbs4.(all 1095 steel) and planning to buy esee 5 and 6.
Also im gonna use it for folding knives touch ups.
Ps:i know sharpmaker is better(probably) but dont have that much money.

For 1095, I'm sure the Crock Sticks will handle what you've got. Assuming, that is, you don't need to do any heavy re-bevelling or major repairs to an edge on a big, thick blade. The Crock Sticks are still ceramics, like the Sharpmaker. Ceramics in general won't remove metal very aggressively. They're great though, for maintaining and refining edges that are still in pretty good condition.

Thanks David,yeah as u sad i dont need any repair and reprofiling on them,they are pretty good now.Im gonna add it to chart.
Also do you have any tips for using lansky on long blades?I genereally clamp at middle and when doing far tip side put the rod slot higher.

For long blades, there will be more variability in the edge angle and bevel width (lower angle means wider bevel), as you compare different sections of the blade's edge. So, with that in mind, give some thought to where you want the thinner angle and wider bevel on the edge. Putting the clamp nearer to the tip will make the edge angle thicker at the tip (with a narrower bevel), and moving it further away from the tip will make the angle more acute at the tip (with a correspondingly wider bevel there). It's generally 'safe' to just position the clamp somewhere near the mid-blade, if you're not overly concerned about the variation in the edge angle/bevel width.

I have some crock sticks they work just fine .I have some older ones made by another company that work even better ,they rod they use are just fine even for S30V and the like.
