I'm waiting for my CS Vanquero to arrive and I'm considering whether I need to get the Lansky sharpener specifically intended for CS serrations or can I just use my Spyderco Sharpmaker. I have the medium and fine rods; can I use these on the CS serrations?

Cold Steel recommends the Spyderco Sharpmaker, and has been doing so for as long as I can remember, for its serrated blades.

Cold Steel also sells the SharpMaker, in addition to the Lansky that is designed for their patterns.

I have used my Spyderco SharpMaker on my Vaquero Grande and X2 Voyager, both with serrated edges, to good results. It functions flawlessly with the pattern, and almost every serration pattern on the market.

The little Lansky dogbone sharpener also is a good bet, plus it can be carried in your pocket. Fortunately, the serrations on the Vaquero don't need sharpening for a long time.
