Lansky Sharpener Problem

I received my lansky system today in the mail from amazon. When I went to put a knife into the clamp I could not tighten down the screw. It would just spin; upon further investigation I noticed that there are absolutely no threads for the screw to grab onto (may be how it is designed, I am not sure). Anyways now when i attempt to screw the front Phillips screw it does nothing; In fact it is so loose that the screw can actually fall out (same goes for the longer flat screw). I am wondering if this is a defect or something. I am kind of upset as I received it today and could not use it much (was able to get it to somewhat clamp to one knife, but no others.) Please let me know if there is something that I can do to fix this problem.

Sounds like you got a bum one. Never heard of that but all manufacturers experience it.

The front phillips should be tapped on both pieces. The rear red knobbed one should be tapped on one piece only.

I love the Lansky. IMO, its worth the wait to get it sorted.

Okay, I thought that it was weird that they did not have threads. I will try and see if we have a tap set here other wise I will call lansky on Monday.

Make Lansky replace it. That's obviously a defect, and they should make it right. If you re-tap it on your own, it'd probably void any warranty protection anyway. Take advantage of the warranty while it's still in effect.
