Hi, I'm new to sharpening and was wondering if this was a good kit. If not could someone steer me in the right direction?
Thanks
Ed

It takes a little practice to get it down, but I love mine. I have the Diamond set and will never go back to the regular stones. If you like ,I did a Lansky tutorial piece a while back, about two pages of tips, if you like I will email it to you.

I Use A Blademaster System, Which Is Basicly The Same As The
Lansky. They Work Very Well.it Takes A Little Practice But Is
Worth It With The Edge It Will Produce. Im Considering
Going To The Lansky With The Natural Arkansas Stones
And Buying The Blue Sapphire Stone To Go With The Set Up.

I just recently got a sapphire stone, it really polishes well. Edlin, send me an email and I'll reply back with the Lansky tutorial.

I have a diamond stone set with the sapphire polishing stone (seems to be somewhere around a 3k or 4k Japanese waterstone). Sometimes use it on small knives but now I mostly just freehand on Japanese waterstones and maybe use a Lansky diamond or the sapphire stone as small freehand stone (or diamond file) for touching up when reprofiling odd curves that are hard to handle on a wide benchstone.

fuzzyedge, could I get a copy of your tutorial also? I just found this forum, and it is rather addicting!

I have the lansky kit at home. I bought it at an NRA show years ago, and have since lost any instructions that were in it. I just purchased a couple of the Alaskan Guide knives from Cabela's, and would like to keep them sharp.

Fuzzyedge can I jump in and get a copy of your Lansky tips as welll please ??? If its ok with you I'll PM you my email addy

Do any of you have a good technique for sharpening short folding knives on the EdgePro, Pro model? Its difficult to keep enough blade on the blade table and I seem to get a wide bevel, especially in the curve of the blade near the tip.
Thanks, HLB
