O.K. fellow bucks, I just bought a lansky sharpner.
What I need help with is what angle do I use on my
119?
Thanks
Jeff
One thing that helps you see if you have the best slot is to color the edge with a black felt pen before you start. Then take a few swipes with the stone and see if you are removing most of the ink. If not, color it again and try another angle. Most likely you will end up re profileing the edge so make sure you use the same slot each time you sharpen your knife and clamp it in the same spot or you will end up reprofiling it every time you use it.
Hope this helps.
...Yep...That Mr. Houser fella sure knows the "angles" ...Thanks for your expert tips Joe!
I will try this next time! It helps alot!!!![]()

I thought we had a "No pun rule" in this forum?![]()
I think I clamped mine in front of or behiind the blood groove altogether. Its been a while and I might be remembering wrong but give that a try and see if it works. I do know that an issue that you might encounter on the longer blades is that the further away from your clamp you go, the angle changes, especially around the tip. I do remember that I had to sharpen only half the blade, then move the clamp forward to do the rest. Not the best method but it seemed to work ok.
I hope this makes sense enough to help.
It looks like if you clamp it in the middle of the groove it wants
to fall off in the groove,or slide that way.So I guess i will
try the clamping it two places thing. Thanks wh4f.![]()
