I got one, seems like it filled up with debri real fast. Now the stone is too smooth.
I have since changed my sharpening method to sandpaper/rubber pad. I have been more successful with both machetes and a couple of hatchets.
Those 8" x 11" sheets of sandpaper, and a mousepad, peice of leather, or rubber gives a large area to work on.
The puck is good for lawn mower blades, you can just reach under the machine. It probably is best for taking to the field, for your axe or machete. For home, there's better ways to get real sharp.
Wow...87 views, and only one person tried to help.![]()
You may want to ask in the axe, hatchet section. I actually had alot of people over there say it is very will suited for what you are wanting it to do. I am no expert and don't claim to be. I am just letting you know what I was told in that section of BF.
Good Luck!
Wow, aren't you a peach? Asking for help and then whining when you don't get it fast enough is a great way to get what you want.![]()
87 views etc - not everyone has a puck ya know. I'd guess at least a few of those 87 were as interested in answers as you are.
Anyway, I've got one and have used it a bit. For what it's worth, it seems to quickly zip out an ugly but usable edge. There are probably guys out there that can get a pretty edge with a puck but I'm not one of them. That said, I've used mine several times with very satisfactory results.
