I'm trying to sharpen my BM Mini AFCK, ATS-34 and seem to be getting nowhere. It's been years since i've used my Lansky and can't find the directions. It's a standard set, course, med, fine.

My technique is gone, i need to go back to school, help.

BTW using the marker tip it seems to have a 25 deg grind.

Thanks.

The tip of the clamp goes on the back of the knife.

Clamp the honing rod to the stone you would like to start with,
If the blade is dull, start with the extra coarse hone and on down to the fine.

Place the rod in the angle degree you want to use that is marked on the clamp, in your case the 25 degree.

File the knife from back to front in the up and down motion. The hone will stay on the exact same angle the whole time. Some people like to count the number of strokes used on each side of the blade edge as to keep the grinding on each side of the knive as even as possible.

That's the basic/easy way of the Lansky. Hope that helped. Good luck.

Ahh. I wasn't using the zig zag motion just sliding it down the blade. No wonder i wasn't getting anywhere. Thank you.

Question. How hard would it be to go down to a 17 deg grind? Do ya think i would need diamond hones with ATS-34?

i was about to post that link. Any other questions about the Lansky and I will be glad to help.
