I have a Lansky Turn box with ceramic rods, and I want to touch up my BK2, I should use the 20 degree holes correct? Because I was reading reviews of them on Amazon and I read that you should use the 25 degree holes to touch up, can I get some clarification?

According to my Angle Cube, the 20* holes are actually more like 22*. I find them to be great for most quick touch ups. By quick touch ups I mean 2-3 strokes per side. This is because I usually re-profile my knives to a 17* per side. Some of my "hard use" knives get a 20* per side re-profile. At any rate, the 20* cork is a micro-bevel if and when I use it. I'm not familiar with the edge angle on a Becker, but I'm guessing its at least a 22-25*. I would think that at the 20* setting, you wouldn't hit your edge apex. I'd be willing to bet that the 25* would serve you better on a Becker.

This is speculation. At best it's an "educated guess". I just can't see Beckers being less than 22-24* per side.

There is a maintenance-specific forum HERE.

BUT, I can tell you that each individual knife has it's own bevel from the factory. Becker isn't putting a laser on those bevels before it heads out, so your knife will differ from another guy's BK2. The key is to find the angle you want, and "reprofile" the edge to that angle, then maintain it yourself. Chances are, the factory bevel is way larger than 20º, and probably even larger than the 25º.

Take a sharpie and color your edge. Put your box on 20º and give it a pass or two. Check the edge to see if it is pulling sharpie off at the apex. If not, try the 25º, then check for missing marker. If neither touch the apex (the sharp part of the edge), you need to reprofile your knife.

Did what you said, looks like I am gonna have to re profile it, the ONLY problem with that is, I have absolutely no idea how to do that!

Lansky makes a handheld guide assembly for sharpening, or you could learn how to use a diamond stone. Either works, with the Lansky being the easier and more precise method... Head over to the Maintenance subforum and start reading!

Don't need to reprofile your knife to use it if it doesn't hit perfectly. You can prop up the lansky box on one side so it's at a different angle that will fit your knife or hold it at a different angle if your coordinated enough so you are hitting the bevel properly. But as mentioned earlier use a sharpie to check to see where you are hitting the bevel.
