Lanyard bail on old Ranger

While I don’t often use lanyards on knives very often anymore, I have been playing with a way of attaching one to one of my Bucks. I also prefer a 110 over a 112. I had an old 112 with a pretty worn blade that I use for grimy jobs every now and again. I drilled the brass (hitting the steel spacer on one side by accident — my tiny kitchen doubles as a workshop — but didn’t hit the spring this time). I had bent a piece of 1/8” brass stock into the shape of a bail like you might find on an old Kamp King. It doesn’t look too bad. I’m thinking of throwing a lanyard onto it and keeping it in the boat bag.

I like it!

Big fan of lanyards, from when lanyards were lanyards and not just used to describe a Paracord fob with a skull bead.

Great mod!
Yeah I don’t really use fobs, except maybe on a smaller SAK or something. I do some fancy work lanyards now and again. Haven’t had a ton of time or a lot of material on hand lately. I might just splice some codline and finish it with some Turks heads or use a lanyard knot and do some plaiting.

One of my favorite 112's is a V1-V1 with engraved bolsters and bail added. It fit my rare, odd, one of one 112 collection on ALL points lolol! I bid on a 80's 112 with a bail added about 8 years ago but dropped out when it got stupid. It's difficult to bid on a odd Buck of any model but I have more time than money..20210416_194224.jpg20210416_194109.jpg

What a beauty!

Nice job! I love a lanyard on a knife too. I just use a piece of paracord. It's such a useful thing. I'd carry my 112 more if it had a place for a lanyard.
