Just wondered if lanyard holes are a big thing for anyone but me. I seem to require one on all my folders and fixed blades but I don't use them unless I am over water/snow/working high up. I don't keep one on alot of my EDCs and don't have them on all but sure wish there were. Just wondered how y'all felt about them.

Lanayard holes are definately useful... But not must. I've attached small lanyard on my victorinoxs key ring, like many does in here. But for knives, they're definately good to have.

I like a loop for my "pinky finger" when using smaller knives.
I like a full lanyard around my wrist for choppers & fighters.

I've attached bright orange lanyards to a couple of my knives - the ones I use at work or outdoors. The logic being that a chunk of black-anodized aluminum is REALLY hard to see at night but a hunk of neon-orange paracord is not :D

I don't find them to be useful in any other way, though. To me, they're kinda like putting reflective tape on your knife without spoiling their sleek looks :p

I personally have never used them, but I could see instances (over water, high up etc.) where they would be usefull.

I lost a knife in the river once, the only way I found it was the bright orange paracord !!

+1 One to that, I do the exact same thing with all of my users that way in case I drop them the oarnge paracord is pretty east to spot... I find them useful in some cases because it gives a extra restraint if the paracord is long enough to wrap around your hand while useing the blade...

I prefer them on all folders and fixed models. I have big hands, so I put square knot lanyards on all of my folders and 4" and smaller fixed blades. Larger choppers get a lanyard loop for my hand.

My last knife had 5 lanyard holes. I had run out of pins, but had copper tube and wanted to try something. Came out pretty good. The point is, lanyard holes don't take away anything from the looks, and can even add something to the knife, even if they are not used.

Anyone making add on lanyard rings? Something like a screw eye? I'm glad to know others at least use them. I'd like to be able to add one if I need it.

I carry my folder in the watch pocket of my Levis. A small fob attached to the lanyard hole makes it easier to get the knife out.

I put short lanyards on most all of my folders. A simple noose style 2" or so. I've become accustomed to pulling my knife up with my pinky and ring finger. The knife just draws up into my hand. And I don't have to go digging in my pockets either.

I've tried the orange, but I like the black with the reflective thread added. They really pop when light hits them. You'd be hard pressed to lose one at night.

Lanyard holes are very useful. The main knives that I take on outdoor trips have a lanyard hole or keyring with a lanyard attached to make the chance of losing them minimal. When I don't use a knife during a trip, it is attached to my belt or rucksack. For my EDC knives it is not a must.

I almost never use lanyards, but I like to be able to with my camping knives, knives I use in boats, etc.. I put a loop of paracord through the holes and tie it into a small loop. (Usually have to pull all seven inner fibers out to make it skinny enough to go through. Then, I weave my wrist lanyard with a claw type latching hook on the end. That way I can attach the lanyard or remove it in a second. (Off topic, but I also do this with my flashlichs. No lanyard in town, lanyard on in the woods when dropping it could mean loosing it.)
