Hi All,

I learned how to make a "square weave" with gutted paracord, and I found out I really enjoy doing it. The problem I have is that I don't just want to end it- I'd like to have some kind of way to neatly tie it off, with maybe a nice bead and then a length of straight para. Has anyone done this (or something similar) and would care to take the time to share your technique? Thanks for helping a noob!

I just started lurking these forums again and I've gotten so much good ideas and information. I remember at camp when I was a kid we used to make some of the lanyards that some of the links described. I am ready to order some paracord and make me some cool looking lanyards again. Thanks guys.

Check out http://tadgear.com. I found some GITD (glow in the dark) cord there. The also had some very nice stainless steel clips too.

A paracord lanyard could be a good way to carry a reasonable amount of cord for emergency use. I made one that is about 4.5 inches long x 13/16 inch dia., which used three 4 foot pieces of paracord.

Thanks for all the information. Before I made my inquiry here I found the lanyard sticky thread at CPF. Stormdrane rocks! http://stormdrane.blogspot.com/
One day I hope to be able to make lanyards that look like that. I may be posting back here again from time to time as I try different styles. Thanks again!

Can't you knot off the end and melt it with a lighter to seal it? What I did for a cool lanyard once was. I made a monkey fist, then using the two strands i tied them over another strand and made a square knot then, and tied it onto the knife. The downside is if you tie it to the knife you ahve to cut it off to remove it.
