Lanyard Knots

Well, I got my Scuba/Demo yesterday at a local B&M and am very impressed with it, for the most part. My only complaints are that it came with a slight scratch on the handle, which I didn't notice until I got home, and the lanyard. While the scratch wasn't SOG's fault at all I'm wondering if anyone knows how to tie a good knot with the lanyard, or if I should just chuck it and use a decent piece of nylon rope which is what i'm thinking of doing. Thanks for any advice you've got.

I'd use the nylon rope in order to keep the original lanyard in good condition

SirGalant, it was bought to be used, trust me. I'd been planning on buying one anyway, but after fighting through saw palmetto at work all last week, with nothing but a shovel and an inferior, dull POS machete that the company gave us to use that clinched it. This is gonna be a tree, vine, thorny vegetation hacker. Any advice on what would be a nice knot for the lanyard?

Vaako, thanks for the link, I will have to try that. SirGalant, I've never held that one, but I have had the 7 inch project 1 and it does a heck of a job, so I'm sure you can't go wrong with that one.
