Lanyard or no? Or in other terms, I took the plunge!

Went to a local gun show today, was pleasantly surprised
not a lot of craft type junk, firearms, parts, reloading supplies, surplus items, and knives! The way a gun show ought to be!

Found a dealer with a small Sebenza...

I tried to resist it's siren song, but was too weak. I bought it!

Actually surprised that he was only a few dollars more than buying it over the internet...plus I had the "instant gratification" factor going...

Been playing with it for several hours now, have completely attacked a letter or two, decimated a stubborn box, looking for the next "kill" :)

Lanyard though...

Having trouble getting used to it...

Do most of you keep the lanyard on it, or remove it?

thanks!

Bill

(Now I really want an Mnandi also!)

I took the lanyard off of my two small Sebbies while I had them. The absence of a lanyard gives the knife cleaner lines, IMO. As to the Mnandi all I can say is, get one, get one, get one.............. get one. :D ;)

I find that the lanyard is part of the package!

I carry my small in waistband. The lanyard makes it easier to draw the knife.

Have fun with your new toy! I got my first 6 months ago and love it better every day!

I do not like the stuff the lanyard is made of.It is too stiff and does seem to get in the way at times.I replace mine with a sportsman cord sold a Walmart. You can get it in many colors and it is softer so it will move around better and does not seem to stick in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I am going to be useing the black leather cord and a Hemotite bead on the Web site.

I like having the lanyard on the handle, I use it primarily to feel if the knife is still in my pocket. However, after reading about the cord at Wal-Mart, I'm going to put a new lanyard on my large woodie.

Thanks for the cord advice. It will be fun to peruse and try. I keep the lanyard on, but often toil about whether to remove it. I've already tied a decent CRK lanyard knot, but often consider whether I want to go through it again immediatly upon removing the existing lanyard in the event I change my mind. I do use the CRK leather sheath and the lanyard helps during extraction. Maybe it's time to get another knife and have it without the lanyard and the present one with.

And here I was thinking that I'd come up with every possible excuse to justify buying yet another knife :D

btw, I'm back and forth. Lately I've been going without the lanyard. Sometimes I'll put one back on.
I need another small Sebenza to end all this confusion!!!

No lanyard for me. 2 seconds after removing the knife from the box the lanyard is cut off. 2 seconds after that it is in the trash. No regrets... never look back. :)

My first two seconds were removing the CLIP and replacing the void with a CRK filler. I like the lanyard/fob for withdrawing the Sebenza from its leather pouch.

FK

I like the lanyard for easier removal from pocket or waist band. Will be getting a Mike Tea sheath in the next few days and will have to take of the clip for that but think I will leave the lanyard on.

No lanyard for me. I seem to fumble my small classic with it on. I didn't cut it but I did untie so if I ever want to put it back on for some reason.

I never owned ANYTHING with a lanyard attached to it before I drank the CRK Koolaid @ Blade 2002! :D With what I had invested in Chris and Anne's stock, coming out of that first show:rolleyes: , I thought I'd try out the obvious recommended method of carry and ...daayuuum!...I converted in no time!!

The first thing I do when I get a Sebenza is to remove the lanyard. It's cool looking, but I find that it gets in my way.

I replaced the black lanyard from all of my (three) sebbies. The blue leather seb got a blue leather lanyard, the large regular and the small classic now have blue/yellow nylon lanyards. Once in a while I change them, just for fun. Maybe brown lather, fittig to the leather Holsters I carry them in, or whatever. Anyway I wouldn't carry the knives without...

Another lanyard user here....I carry my small pheasant in a William Henry pouch. The lanyard makes it easier to remove the knife.

Where in WalMart do I find the different cords? I looked all over the sporting goods section today without success.

I have found it in 3 wal marts,it was in the same place in all 3.
Sporting Goods same place they keep the rest of the rope and cord. All the colors are all mixed in one box,you have to look thru it to find all the differant ones.Seems like everytime they get more in it is differant colors.
If you still can't find it go to the service desk and give them this bar code,it should tell them if they do have it.

It is made by Wellington and called braided poly-pro Sportsman's cord.
