So I just got a Ontario rat 1 one and its gonna be my main edc knife (I know some peaple think its only a tactical folder but its a great knife for every day cutting) and I was wondering do you guys think I should put a 550 paracord lanyard on it or not. Keep in mind that its Edc so it will go in my pocket.

does it clip tip down? if it does, the lanyard is useless for deployment during clipped carry. but you can carry it tip up in your pocket and use the lanyard for deployment (assuming the lanyard is long enough.)

i have only two uses for the lanyard: ease in deployment during pocket carry and during work (i let the knive dangle from my wrist if i have do do something else.) otherwise, it's a bit of a bother, it gives away that you're carry something that you're concealing in the first place, and it doesn't improve the basic aesthtics of the knife IMHO.

I carry a lanyard on some of my deeper riding knives like my ZT 0561. It's really just a personal thing. Get a cheap lanyard and see if you like it, easy as that. You can make your own pretty easily, also.

If I have a folder, odds are it is waved. They require a lanyard for consistent practical deployment.
