Lanyard pin with shoulders?

I'm not personally a fan of lanyards hanging off my blades. Its too easy for me to have it snagged out of my pocket by a branch in the woods or worse a pick pocket in a crowd.
So with each one I get, I remove the lanyard, but replace the pin again. But first sticking a small piece of the lanyard paracord back in the hole and melting the ends with a lighter, so the pin can't drop out.

I like the look of the pin rather than leaving yet another hole in my handles. Replacing the pin makes the knife look more attractive especially when the pin is anodized in a matching color to the thumbstud.

I did come across a blue anodized lanyard pin with shoulders on a small PJ that I resold.
I'm guessing it was an aftermarket item, because that was the only one I've seen after having 6 Seb 21's pass through my hands.

Don't know if this has been discussed already? A search did not turn up anything for me as to why CRK doesn't offer shoulders on their lanyard pins. Each of my models already has a spacer, so a pin with shoulders would just have to be a tad smaller than the spacer for lockdown of that rear screw going through the spacer.

OEM pins with shoulders, so the pin can't fall out . . . This to me would be a better solution than buying an expensive knives only to have to look at a piece of melted paracord between the handles of each one I own.

Just a thought

Thank for the response. it “was” the small PJ that had one. I wonder why they don’t do it for the large 21?

MXG has titanium pins in three colors that fit beautifully. I’d check them out if I were you. Not crazy expensive either.

Thank you for that. I'll definitely check them out. I've bought about 5 or 6 deep pocket clips from them already and their Titanium clips are of great quality that match the CRK grey Titanium to a tee :)
Update: so I looked at the MXG lanyard pics. Appears their bronze color is darker than the CRK OEM pin. Don’t know why they didnt match it? Also, a poster below has noted his pin (maybe the OEM with a small) rattles. Thats not good!

What is the method of puting a small piece of paracord? where do you put it? I have a small and it does have shoulders, i just hate the rattling noise it makes when you remove the lanyard

Some people call it the “Getto” fix. You pull your lanyard cord to almost the end leaving the lanyard pin still on and then cut the cord just leaving enough on each side to heat briefly with a match. Squish it while still warm into a mushroom head so it cant fall out of either side and reinstall. If the cord has already been pulled out of the lanyard pin you can push it back in easier if you cut the end diagonally and maybe wet it and roll it into a point with your thumb and forefinger to thread it back through the hole.

For your particular situation this probably won’t solve your rattling. If it was my knife rattling I’d just loosen all the screws on the knife instead of opening it up completely and risking pinching a washer putting it back together (there are youtube vids on how to slide the blade with washers into the handle together, so you dont pinch the washers) I’d loosen especially the back screw enough to loosen the lanyard pic and I’d put the tiniest drop of superglue on just a little area of the pin shoulder. Just a tiny drop on each end of the pin which might solve your rattle.
Ill load a pic later as the one I just took with my iphone is too big to upload. But you dont notice the melted piece of paracord much unless you look directly between the two handles from the back.

This ^^^^
Just make the mushrooms big enough that the slabs squeeze them and then there is no rattle

Your can put Teflon tape like this and no rattle.

That fix is probably better than my superglue suggestion.

I would get some electrical heat shrink tubing, cut to the wide and shrink it at the middle of the pin. There are many colored tube available. The pin wont go anywhere and wont rattle too.

I’ve put a tiny drop of glue on the shouldered pin & let it dry then put it back. No mess and no (IMO) unsightly melted cord ends.
