I have a question concerning the lanyard pin on older models vs newer!

On my older 21 the lanyard pin would fall out if the cord was removed. I would just run para cord through the pin holes for my lanyard, leaving the pin out.

On my newer 21 and Zaan to remove the pin you have to disassemble. The way it’s fitted serves two fold, besides lanyard hole it also supports frame.

My question...why was this change made? I removed mine on the newer 21 and zaan to run paracord through the holes. Am I weakening the frame?

Thanks...jd

I think I finally have this straight now. The smalls have the shouldered pins. The older large 21’s were not shouldered. The newer 21’s have the shouldered pins. it doesn’t support the frame, it was one of those subtle changes that were made. Don’t remember when though. I would guess the change was made because CRK listens to feedback from customers.

It doesn't support the frame. They went with a shouldered design to allow the end user to keep the pin and lose the lanyard if they want.
