Lanyard pins

I have taken the lanyards off a Sebenza 31 and fairly recent Umnumzaan model (I just untied them).

I was expecting the lanyard pin to fall out on both but they haven't. After a bit of research I have found mention of two types of pins - straight and stepped/shouldered. But it is unclear to me which models have which.

I think my knives have the latter but wanted to check with the experts. Are recent large CRKs all equipped with the "stepped" pin? If so, I guess I can just keep that in and don't need a mod to fill the lanyard hole - is that correct? If it is the straight pin should I just be able to slide it out (I didn't want to push too hard)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah, the older style pin should just slide out (I don’t recall when they made the switch but it’s been a while). You’ll have to disassemble the knife if you wish to remove the newer one. It won’t hurt anything if you like the look and want to leave them in - many Sebenza owners do just that.

CRK knives are designed to be taken apart fairly easily, why not just take the knife apart and remove the lanyard pin? That is the first thing I do when getting a new CRK!

Erm.... I didn't need to because I didn't want to remove the pin. I just wanted to get rid of the lanyards and untying them took 20 seconds each.

As I said I expected the pin to just fall out. If it did then I was going to order something to mod/block the hole and would have taken the knife apart then to fit it. As it is - I don't need to bother. Works for me.
