Lanyard Swivel/Bar Question

I bought a used small Sebenza (that I've since sold) that had a lanyard swivel with a hole in the handle. This swivel was "shouldered" so that even if you didn't have a lanyard tied on it would stay with the knife. You actually had to break down the knife to remove it. Today I received a new large Sebenza and was surprised that when I untied the lanyard the swivel fell out. Was the swivel on the small knife a aftermarket item? I don't want a lanyard but like the look of the swivel in the handle. Please excuse me if I'm not using the correct terminology. I'm not a collector. Thanks for any info.

That's normal. The lanyard bar is stepped on the smalls, but not on the larges. Trim a piece of paracord and melt the ends so that the bar will stay in place.

Does anyone know if CRK will sell you a stepped pin? They're closed for the week end.

I don't think they make a stepped pin for the large. What some people do is put a length of cord in, so it just sticks out the ends of the pin, then they melt the ends so the cord won't fall out, and then the cord holds the pin between the scales.

Here's mine with the lanyard melted. I thought it would be an eye soar, but I honestly never even think about it until I see a thread like this. I actualy cut a piece off the crk lanyard, because I knew I'd never be getting rid of this knife.

I've thought about getting some of the glow in the dark o rings, but this will just have to suffice for now.
And yes, i never use bladeforums search engine. If I want to find something here I go to google, type a few keywords in and add bladeforums. Works every time.
