Lanyard talk...

So I’m walking through the back of the shop the other day and this 2x4 starts to eyeball me….Now normally I’m a peaceable guy but you let one 2x4 get away with it and soon you won’t be able to show your face around the lumber yard….

So I decide to make an example of it. Trouble is I only had my Leaner Meaner on me. Not much of a chopper you know….Unless of course you use your lanyard like I do…

With just that little bit of cord wrapped as seen here you can really gain some swinging power. With the knot on the inside of my grip it really is very secure. Try it…I think you’ll be surprised. You can now get some great swings going while not having to grip the blade hard so you really eliminate the shock that goes to your hand.

Another reason I like this is that it is also low profile for EDC. Just a bit of cord or leather. Not some elaborate long thing.

For the bigger blades I use this method.

Here are some of my blades that have lanyards.

What do you guys use?

Nice.

No camera at the time. Of course the mess is still there so maybe I'll take some pics this week.

That leaner is eyeballing me. I can't let it get away with it.

It's bad enough that he's using my knife. Don't you start ogling it too.

i'll fight ya for it! :)

but i digress, i have never found a real use for a lanyard. but i like the way they look, so i have a few on my knives.

i had some pics somewhere....

Well Mr M, lemme show ya one that I use to keep my choppers from getting away from me and taking a flyer. The secret is the wrap it takes around the back edge of your hand. Due to the loop around your thumb (shown in the starting position of the second picture), it also stops your hand from sliding forward onto the blade, if you are into stabbing thrusts.

The "in-use" position of the sliding rubber washer (#5) forms the loop when it is at the knotted ends of the paracord. When stowed in its "on-the-belt" position (#6) slid against the butt of the knife handle, the non-closed nature of the two tails doesn't snag so readily on branches or brush.

Of course, this may or may not fit some folks' definition of a lanyard. YMMV.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between parachord and paraline. Which one is the flat one, or can they both come in flat? Besides "550" that everyone agrees is great, are there others as good, or should they be avoided?

Right on RokJok!

I tie mine differently for my big choppers but they loop around and function the same.

LOL. Yeah but if it did come back it would give you a chance to practice your Ninja knife catching technique. ;-)
