Hey, if I'm too far off-topic, just yell at me. Don't be polite, I won't get it. Ask my wife.

Any of you high-speed, low-drag individuals ever used the Gem-tech lanyard? If not, any lanyard? What I'm thinking is that if I'm carrying a $150+ folder (yeah, it marks me as one that can't *yet* stomach over $300 for a folder ;) ) on duty, then I want to make sure it doesn't scamper out of my pocket and into a ditch whilst I'm chasing joe-****-the-rag-man through the grimy alleys of the west side. Or even so that it doesn't work its way into the squad car after 12 hrs, resulting in it being stolen by some jack-nut on days that doesn't even know what a good folder is.

I was thinking that attaching it to the lanyard, then to my pants belt (under the duty) would keep it from beeing too seen, therefore reducing the chances that any a-hole tries to pick it from me. Of course, if they're that close to my gun side, maybe its the least of my worries, but bad situations occur on this job where people just do get close  , what ya gonna do...

Thanks guys,

Eric

The Gem-tech seems a bit overkill for a pocket knife. I can see using it for a gun..

But from a low-speed, high-drag individual, I use a Gear Keeper lanyard for my expensive folders when I'm around water. If all your worry about is it falling out of your pocket, I would look into them.

Hope this helps.

Eric,
I would be too worried about having that lanyard catch on something (like the top of the chain link fence that sh*t bag just jumped over).

You might try clipping it inside your pants on the front left side so that it is in a cross-draw type of configuration. This has worked for me so far. I have done this since I lost one of my babies on a chase and believe me it sucked having to wait until the dogs ran thier track before I could go looking for it.

Another idea is cut and sew (like a button hole) a little slot on the inside of your front pocket. This came to me by accident when I cut my pocket while carrying a tip-up folder. This works really good for on or off-duty carry since nobody can see it since the pocket clip isn't exposed.

Good Luck
Scott

Hey. I really appreciate the info. Thanks again, everyone.

Eric (Looking forward to getting his first Strider soon)
