Lanyard?

On my SAK I have attached about a 4" length of rawhide via a bowline knot and was wondering if anyone else did the same thing. If my pinkie is placed in the lanyard hole and I drop my knife for whatever reason, there it will dangle instead of losing it or it breaking on a hard surface.

I put a paracord lanyard on my SAK huntsman, and on my little brothers scout knives, but those are just square knot lanyards. My Schrade 6OT (the lockback with the thong hole?), had a length of shoelace on it, held up pretty well, sort of the same setup as you have.

Let's move this discussion over to multi-tools & multi-purpose knives.

I guess I was thinking that the bowline would be easier to untie if I wanted to use the rawhide or attach the knife to something else.
Sorry Blues- I usually hang out in here and figured since it was a slip joint it'd be fine. I apologize.

I use lanyards on quite a few of my knives, makes it easier to fish them out of my pocket. I do make my own so I do go a bit overboard with them...lol.

No apology necessary. Just a better fit over here since the forum addresses SAK's specifically and you're likely to get a variety of replies.

I add a short loop of 550 paracord to SAKS because it makes the knives easier to find and grab from deep inside a pocket.

Big lanyard fan here. I have one on every one of my knives that has a hole or a bail. Stockman242, I have the same one on my Mercator.
