Lanyards and Paracord

i use either spectra cord or paracord with the guts removed. para cord ya can get anywhere in diff colors ( i like black) but the spectracord is harder to find, brigade quartermasters did have it but doesnt anymore i'll have to look and see where i got it last i cant think now lol. anyway the spectra is smaller in diameter kinda like what microtech lanyards are made of.

I like to use 550 paracord(7 inner strands) and Type I paracord. I get them from the Supply Captain.

Esav Benyamin posted some good links in this thread in post #5.

Everybody always wants to strip the inner strands out of the 550 paracord. Is it really necessary to do this?

Depends on the application. Wrapping a HAK knife with stripped paracord usually works to tighten a marginal fit; wrapping a tactical knife handle with straight cord creates the grip.

Try countycomm.com as a source.

Just a quick note: While black, olive drab, and other tactical or camo colors seem to be the most common colors to find paracord in, for lanyards it's worth considering going with a brighter color, especially if it's a lanyard for a knife you use outside. Camo lanyards can blend in a bit too well with the ground if you drop the knife outside while a bright green, yellow, or orange can be easier to spot than the knife itself.

Stormdrane's site ROCKS for lanyard info! I've gotten cord from both the Supply Captain and Happy Camper. As Simon mentioned lanyard color can be an issue. I made some from TAD Gear glow cord and gutted orange for quick-finding.
Stay Safe,
Clyde

Stormdrane - wow that is a great site. It's got everything I have ever really been able to find on lanyards in one place and then more. Thanks
