First of all......this is my first post so.....howdy! What I'd like to see is some pics of the lanyards ya'll hang on your Beckers (I'm looking for some ideas for my BK2.) Whether plain paracord or ranger pace beads, ornamentation or utilitarian.....whats on your Becker????

Nothing Fancy, just a piece of cord.

The handles have been swapped on the 77 and 9 since this picture was taken, and stainless hardware with a "dessert camo" lanyard added to the 9.

I don't like lanyards myself, they seem to get in my way to much...........

Welcome to the forum!

I am in a similar position (new to the forum with a brand new BK2), and I haven't yet decided what to do about a lanyard.

If I can add a bit to the question... Could you guys say why you do or do not use/like lanyards? Also, some people like to hold the lanyards in their hands, and others like it around them?

A lanyard will keep your knife in your hand when your grip get tired, or your palm gets sweaty. It is a safety issue, like a helmet, some people use it, some don't. The best way I have seen to use a lanyard was to go around the back of the hand and hook onto your thumb. This way if you drop the knife, it swings away from you hand and body.

Sorry, no good pics. Just a chunk of knockoff paracord from REI with the ends melted together and fused with pliers.

I have always felt that with a big blade, you would want the lanyard hole towards the front of the handle, so if you do lose your grip, it balances against your palm, so you can maintain control, if you lose your grip. I saw a custom made dpknife at the WNY Knife gathering that had this exact feature. I was most impressed. When he wrapped the lanyard around his palm & let go, it balanced against his palm nicely. No drop of the blade to cut a leg or someone elses arm, ect.

That was probably the knife I made. I don't think Doug keeps a lanyard on his chopper. The idea was taken from the Crowell-Barker competition chopper, the source for several elements when I designed and built that guy.
