Who all uses a laynyard on your Busses? What type? Pics?

Is there a particular knot you use? I've got a bazillion yards of 550 Para cord in every color imaginable, I would like to tie up a few.

Also, what is the purpose of the 2" stubbie (chris reeve coil) that some folks use? I could see it on a folder possibly for pulling the knife out of your pocket, but what does it do on a fixed blade knife?

i use the reeve lanyard on all my users. it provides a handle for removal from scabbard and more importantly for me it provides a length of cord for a boot lace, repairs, safety line for the knife around water or a tourniquet if you fall on your knife in a drunken stupor, also they look cool and chicks dig em.

Skunk - You left out they look cool and chicks dig em.

Lanyards on all my large knives. Typically a single loop of dark green paracord (cause that's what I have) large enough to slip my hand through. If the knife slips out of my hand, it doesn't go flying somewhere it shouldn't. I like the Chinese Good Luck knot or the Knife Lanyard knot found on page 138 & 139 of the The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots & Ropework. These are simple yet good looking knots. I am working on pictures for posting sometime in the near future.

I have a Hand guard on mine with a lanyard off the tail.keeps my hand on the knife with no worrys about slipping foward if I'm trying to push the tip through something.

the guard also has a very high CDI factor....

I like to use big knives for bushwacking. The greatest trick I ever found with regards to a lanyard is this: Use a short lanyard with a Chris Reeve type knot which looks like a hangman's knot. When you want to use the knife just slip your pinky finger into the loop as if it was a Karambit. Make sure that it is big enough so that your finger feels comfortable. This way the knife won't slip out of your hand. The pressure put onto the lanyard is distribited to the WHOLE hand , not just to the Pinky finger. Large lanyards that go around the whole hand can get in the way of the blade when you are chopping. If you try this mini-lanyard you will see that it gives you a really great grip and you can even swing your knife around as if it were a pistol. Don't knock it, try it. Great for Busses because thay have the lanyard holes drilled into them.

The best way to attach a lanyard to a Busse is the Chris Reeve coil. Make the loop whatever length you want and then attach the loop to the rear talon hole with a girth hitch. That way you can take the lanyard off and on quickly.

Here's a couple of pics of my FSH lanyard.

I've used one like this on my Battle Rat for quite a while. Seems to work pretty well. I just used a cord holder thingy (a good one) taken from a windbreaker. Just put your hand through the loop, slide the cord holder up and it won't come off like a regular loop.

Oh, almost forgot - Eric's selling some great looking lanyards (got some ordered ;) ) - he posted some samples on this forum. In the brighter colors, they ought to be especially useful for quickly locating a dropped knife.

Mr Skunk, you wouldn't by chance have a pic of your NO with a Chris Reeve Lanyard? I'd love to check it out.

The one on the Assault Shaker is a Reeve Knot

The one on the Battle Rat is a lanyard that my daughter made ;) (and is now selling ;) sorry I'm a proud Dad and I had to give her a small plug )

Here's a pic of my AS & AD. I've since removed the AD guard, but the AS "tail" gives my pinky something to grab. :)
