Hi Everyone,

I have not had any experience with lanyards and could use some guidance.
I've seen that the have all different kinds and styles.
Is Para cord the most logical choice? I'm trying to figure out where to find the most useful and practical lanyards
that not only look nice but would be the most useful in a survival type dilemma.

Also cost or best bang for the buck would be great.
Where have you found the best lanyards for sale and what features do you find the most useful?

Thank You

Paracord (550 cord) and shock cord are the best lanyard materials. Personally, i make my own lanyards which gives them a more personalized look. The most popular lanyard types are the Solomon Bar, Snke Knot, Square Crown Sinnet, and a Noose. You should definatley try making a lanyard because for the price of one lanyard you can buy 50' of cord. Check out TIAT's youtube channel for some cool ideas. As a closing to my lengthy response, you shoul carry cord too because a lanyard may not supply sufficient amounts in a survival scenario.

I've always felt lanyards are more show than go. That being said I have a few fixed blades with paracord attached. Leather strips (shoelace leather) are also attractive for folders imho.

As far as a survival cord, the paracord wrist straps are what I sometimes wear. Seems like they're all over the place nowadays.

You can buy paracord in 100 or 50 ft lengths for pretty cheap. So buying lanyards is not cost effective IMO. Pick a color, go on youtube and watch how to do it. if you can tie your shoes you can do any lanyard your heart desires.

Survival.... I'm sure it would help, but in reality it probably won't happen. Reality is needing rope to tie something down in your car or truck. I tie my own bracelets so I think nothing of cutting one up to use.

I also learned from TIAT on youtube.

Thinking about putting a lanyard on my southard since I carry it with no clip.
