Just recently acquired a neat knife (IMHO anyway :-)
A "puukko" made by a Lap craftsman in Northern Finland.
Handle and sheath are geometrically scrimshawed reindeer antler;
hand forged blade is approx. 3 " . Leather binding is a bit
brittle but intact. Nice piece of ethnic folk art.

Just thought I'd share an interesting knife.
Comments welcome.

That's pretty cool. (And welcome to the forums!)
I haven't seen one like that before. I like the way the handle and scabbard are made to look like one piece of bone (or...are they actually the same piece?) Is that a scapula? Wonder what critter it belonged to...

Peace.
Alex.

Alex -

Two different pieces of, I think, reindeer antler, not bone.

Any special types of puukko you collect? My meager collection
is pretty general; some horseheads, some balds, some hooks;
several different makers and ages.
