A friend gave me a SB Collins Legitimus that I made a new handle for and gave it back to him to hang in his cabin. The handle that was on it is in excellent shape and I will hang a different head on it. Like most old axe junkies I am always looking for names, stamps, etc on handles as well as heads. This one was somewhat hard to read but finally figured out it is a LaPierre-Sawyer 36" #489. No cracks, chips or dents. Just dirty near the head normal wear on the shaft. Not sure if I should sand it down and refinish it or leave it as is. Dog
