Any makers who use lapis on the handles? I have seen a Genovese folder with it. Are there any drawbacks other than weight?

frac,

i have used lapis on several knives and i don't even find weight a big deal. just buy good quality lapis or it doesn't polish very well, stays very orange peely. i polish it just like i do jade except for a final touch i use cerium oxide on a leather wheel. that seems to add a nice final sparkle to it.

Scott Sawby offers lapis as well as other stones. Dave Broadwell and John Etzler do lapidary work, too.

Mel Pardue uses it on some of his interframes.Very nice touch.

I really like the looks of Lapis.

How fragile is it? Does it scratch or break easily?
