As some of you may recall, I have shown some time ago pics about a large 21 w. mammoth ivory inlays.

As I am collecting large 21 with damascus blade, but wasnt able to find a mammoth ivory w. damascus blade, I bought this one. Just to at least have one with mammoth ivory inlays, keeping my eyes open for a piece with damascus blade. So a few weeks ago I was lucky to find the desired one. Therefore I sold the above knive and now I would like to show you the new member of the family.

As mammoth ivory is a nature material, colors and structure/pattern can vary. Usually the Sebenza or Mnandi with mammoth ivory inlays are just white, without any colors in it, whereas inlays made of mammoth bark ivory can present a large variety of colors. But also the "non bark" ivory can at least vary in the way the white of the ivory appears. It can be more into kind of "pure white/snow white" or into "cream". The above mentioned Sebenza with mammoth ivory and without damascus blade belonged to the 1st group. The white tone of the ivory was really pure snow white. That does have its charme. But it looks la bit less like a nature material. At first glance it could be even recognized as ivory micarta. Here is a closer look:

Of course with the makro lens you can notice some very small areas where another color tone is visible. But with normal eyes looking at it, the inlays look pure white.
I am very happy now, that my new 21 with mammoth ivory and with damascus blade has more of that "cream" type of color, even showing some kind of pattern, if you will:
